Caton partners with sartorial masters Scabal for inaugural Concours on Savile Row

For the inaugural Concours on Savile Row event (held 15 – 16 June), Caton has confirmed its presence and announced a partnership with world-renowned sartorial masters, Scabal. Celebrating its 50th year on Savile Row in London, Scabal has been designing and manufacturing its own fabrics since 1938 and been in place on Saville Row since 1972; a perfect fit for all-new British luxury coachbuilding brand, Caton, and ideal opportunity to display the new Healey by Caton.

The unique Concours on Savile Row event will bring together two elements of luxury lifestyle at an unprecedented and innovative experience. Exclusive and historically significant cars will each partner with a tailor on Savile Row to create a feast of creativity and bespoke, tailored craftsmanship.

Tim Strafford, CEO of Caton’s strategic vehicle building partner, Envisage Group, said: “Combining Healey by Caton’s fully bespoke and handcrafting practices with Scabal – a Savile Row tailor with a rich international heritage – is a privilege. Indeed, there are many similarities between Savile Row tailoring and the Signature service customers will experience when specifying their own Healey by Caton. I’m excited to confirm our presence and partnership with Scabal for this event.”

Caton and Scabal are two brands that pride themselves on the finest of British craftsmanship. With Scabal, their cloths are woven at their mill in Huddersfield, England. Healey by Caton naturally aligns with Scabal’s British design expertise by being totally engineered and manufactured in the West Midlands.

Gregor Thissen, Executive Chairman of Scabal, said: “When we were approached to collaborate with Healey by Caton for the Savile Row Concours event, we were immediately fascinated by the idea of taking something iconic from the past and reinterpreting it in a modern, contemporary way. This is what long lasting heritage brands are all about, reinventing themselves constantly and never just relying on past glory.

“The pure lines of this historical car and the sheer class it exudes can hardly be improved on, but to rebuild the car with a modern engine, with advanced technology and contemporary luxury fittings makes it almost into a piece of modern art.

“The world of Bespoke is very much part of our DNA and we are therefore, very excited to be associated with this fascinating brand. To work together to display our luxury cloth within this unique car is a source of great pride and joy for us.”

Caton’s Sales and Marketing Director Nick Colledge concluded and said: “It’s a pleasure to partner with such a fine tailor on Savile Row, especially one who also designs and manufactures its own fabrics. We’re working to produce a collaborative display that will exhibit how Scabal’s fabrics and tailoring accents could be integrated into Healey by Caton.

“We’re really looking forward to the first Concours on Savile Row as it not only exemplifies the bespoke and craftsmanship expertise of beautiful cars and skilled tailors, but it’s also Healey by Caton’s second London-based event after Salon Privé at the Royal Chelsea Hospital, where it had its global debut, last month.”

Healey by Caton is a newly crafted and sympathetically reincarnated example of a Fifties Austin-Healey 100/4. Engineered with more than double the original horsepower (now 185 bhp) and maintaining a sub-tonne kerb weight of 920 kg, Healey by Caton is a modern-day representation of a British icon. Limited to only 25 examples, Healey by Caton represents an exclusive opportunity to create a completely bespoke automotive extension of its owner’s personality. A full Signature service is available to Healey by Caton clients and Caton welcomes customers to its Coventry HQ to see their car being built and consult the Signature design team about any bespoke additions and modifications they would like.
